About Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the liveliest and most beautiful cities in the world, home to an eclectic mix of tradition and modernity. Many different cultures have left their mark on Barcelona, which results in a great artistic and cultural richness for you to discover.

While in Barcelona you may enjoy a quiet stroll through the old Roman city, or exploring the narrow winding streets in the Medieval Quarter (Barrio Gótico). Also to be enjoyed are Barcelona’s architectural gems, take in the spaciousness of the modernist buildings, Gaudí’s architectural games or venture to the Olympic Village, created for Barcelona’s 1992 hosting of the Olympic Games, and see the modern lights. You will find all of this in a city on the sea.

The city’s most important festivity is that of La Mercè, taking place in September. During this festivity you will experience different types of concerts, street plays and performances, sporting events all around the city, and elements of Catalan popular culture (correfocs, castellers, etc).
